Through our programs, more than 25,000 children and adults were reached in 2006 with messages of humane education, behavior retraining and the importance of spaying and neutering. The Capital Area Humane Society continues to grow and our humane education programs, including CHAT Club, Off-Site CHAT Club, Summer Camps and school-community partnerships are in high-demand. Teaching humane values at an early age is not only fun for kids, but vital to a lifetime of positive interactions.
Humane education is a process through which children and adults develop compassion and respect for all living creatures. It empowers young people by creating an atmosphere of empathy and kindness through positive role models, cooperative learning and interactive lessons and activities. Humane education is not just a visit to the shelter to see homeless animals, but a plan for a lifestyle to combat cruelty and needless suffering of all beings.
