Giving Opportunities

The shelter operates on a $1.5 million budget. Individual contributions make up 72% of that number. The Capital Area Humane Society receives no support from the local, state or federal government.

With your support, we provide homeless and abandoned animals food, shelter, TLC and health care (that includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, and testing for diseases). Our professional staff of 30 includes veterinarians, veterinary technicians, behavioral experts and animal care specialists. In addition, there are building costs and upkeep, along with the daily administrative costs of serving 40,000 people and 7,000 animals annually.

The Capital Area Humane Society offers several giving opportunities for individuals who wish to support the shelter’s mission to promote the humane treatment of companion animals through protection, placement, education and example. Below are several giving options.

Please call (517) 626-6821 ext. 11 or email ehenry@cahs-lansing.org with any questions regarding donation options or to request a Giving Opportunities brochure.

Thank you for your support!

Annual Giving Clubs

The shelter’s annual giving clubs are some of our most popular giving options. All donors who annually contribute $25 or more will receive our Paw prints publication.

Lifetime Giving

Donors who achieve Lifetime levels of recognition receive Collar Club benefits and lifetime recognition on the shelter’s donor wall upon completion of their pledge.

Planned Giving/Estate Giving/Rescuer Club

The Rescuer Club recognizes supporters who provide loving care and protection for future shelter animals by making a planned gift. Provisions for a future gift may be made through several planned giving instruments. Donors are recognized as a member of Rescuer Club on the donor wall.

Memorial Gifts and Commemorative Giving

Memorial gifts and commemorative giving provide opportunities to make a gift in the name of a person or pet who has passed away. Family members are notified of the memorial gift. Several giving options are available.

Run & Walk for the Animals

The Capital Area Humane Society's largest fundraiser of the year takes place every fall. The 2006 Walk for the Animals raised more than $95,000 and attracted more than 600 walkers! Build a pack, have fun and raise funds to help the animals!

United Way Giving

Thanks to all those who support us through the United Way! We are a proud participant in the annual campaign. Our code(s) for those how are having trouble finding them are: 1902 for all companies in the Capital Area United Way Campaign, 7018 for the CFC Campaign and 6415 for State Government employees. Those contributing to campaigns in Mason and other local communities can also use the 1902 code. Any questions, please email ehenry@cahs-lansing.org or call (517) 626-6821, ext. 11.
