Individual monetary contributions account for approximately 2/3 of our annual budget. Without the generous gifts from citizens concerned for the welfare of animals in our area, we truly would not be able to provide the quality care to more than 10,000 animals each year.
One hundred percent of any money we receive goes directly in support of the animals and the programs and services designed for their protection and care. If you are interested in making an immediate or long-term impact on the animals with a gift of money, please CLICK HERE for information.
In addition to generous individuals who support the animals, we have many very valued corporate partners who help support through sponsorship of events, programs, website or other projects important in serving the animals in need.

HELP RAISE FUNDING
Perhaps you do not have the resources to give a monetary contribution (or one as large as you would like). You can still help by encouraging gifts from others in our community through a 3rd party fundraiser or by entering as a participant in our Run & Walk for the Animals. For information on raising funds for CAHS by engaging others, please CLICK HERE.
With more than 10,000 animals coming through our doors each year, we always have a need for donated items. From simple to complex, small to large, there are many things we utilize on a daily basis that you can help provide. Likewise, there are physical needs in and around the shelter with which your assistance is needed. For information on the types of donated items we accept and to see our Wish List, please CLICK HERE.
Here at CAHS, we number in staff around 30 people. With all of our hard work and dedication, there would be no way we could accomplish all we do without the generous help from our 900+ active volunteers. These kind community members give more than 16,000 hours of their free time each year to come in and provide support for all of our animals. If you are interested in spending time with the animals, please CLICK HERE to see the variety of volunteer opportunities we have.
In addition to all of our wonderful individual and family volunteers, groups of adults and children join together to come in for a day of assistance. Given the size of some groups, these service projects can be helpful in accomplishing a lot in one day. If you are in a position to organize a service project day or would like information regarding service projects, please CLICK HERE.
Some animals that come to CAHS need specialized attention – perhaps they are too young to go up for adoption or maybe they need a little time to get accustomed to a home setting. We have a wonderful group of foster care parents who generously open their hearts and homes to animals needing a little help before hitting the adoption floor. The Capital Area Humane Society has been able to serve the needs of animals of mid-Michigan and beyond for more than 75 years due to strong community support. Given we do not receive support from the government or through taxes, our community is the engine behind which the shelter and our extended resources run. Community support comes in a variety of ways.
