Pet Behavior

The purpose of the Pet Behavior Department is to enhance the relationship between people and their pets. By educating future pet owners about how to train animals, we increase the likelihood that pets won’t be surrendered to the shelter and will enjoy long, happy lives with their owners.

Behavior problems are the leading cause of pet surrender of to shelters and animal control agencies throughout the country. Many of these behavior problems are avoidable with proper pet selection, enhanced placements and pet owner education.

Aggressive dogs and cats with litterbox problems are the top two issues people call us about on our Behavior Hotline. Our behavior staff can suggest solutions, invite you to our obedience classes and provide you with training information.
