For adult dogs, the following color code system applies:

Purple - Low energy
Orange - Medium energy
Green - High energy
White - Special behavior needs

For cats, the following abbreviations represent different breeds:

DSH: Domestic Short Hair
DMH: Domestic Medium Hair
DLH: Domestic Long Hair

CAHS Virtual Kennel

Our Virtual Kennel displays animals whose owners have decided to place up for adoption but would prefer to adopt directly from their home. These pets are still in their homes, but need new families to adopt them. All inquiries about the pets shown should be made to the person listed. CAHS does not accept any responsibility or liability for these animals.

We are proud to be a part of the PetSmart Charities Rescue Waggin' program and pleased that our city can serve as a role model in creating humane communities. Rescue Waggin' is a unique shelter transport program that moves adoptable dogs from shelters with very high overpopulation to shelters like ours, where adoptable dogs are in demand and have a better chance at finding new homes.
