Adoption

Visiting the shelter is the best way to find the right pet to match your family's lifestyle. Different animal breeds have different personalities and our adoption counselors can help you decide which animal is best for you. Spending time with an animal will give you a sense of the right match. Our Adoption Counselors are prepared to help you by discussing your lifestyle, family members, time for pets, etc.

*Adult dog Adoption Special*

Beginning Saturday, November 1st, all adult dog adoptions will be $50.00 off.  This special will run through the end of the month of November.  If you're looking for a canine companion, now is the perfect time to visit the shelter and pick out your new family member!

Stop by the shelter or visit our Pet Gallery to view all available pets awaiting adoption.

Adoption is a lifetime commitment so before you adopt, consider the following questions:
  • Can I afford the annual costs to keep a dog or a cat which can easily run up to $400 a year including food and medical care?
  • Am I willing to devote time to training my new pet?
  • Do I have time everyday to train, groom exercise and love a pet?
  • What type of pet will best fit into my lifestyle?
  • Will my landlord allow a pet?
  • What type of pet is most appropriate for children?

Happy Tails

Please send us your happy stories of adoption so that we can feature you on our web-site. If you have a jpg photo, you can email one directly to us. If you have a printed photo, you can mail it to us, along with your story.

We recieved this email update about Izzy (now IISA), who was adopted in November 2007:

"We have one happy, well adjusted little rat terrier...fully housebroken now (not at all hard to do!) and learning all the doggie tricks her sisters know. She has a fenced in acre to run, a world of toys and yes....even clothes!! We found that her favorite toy in a tennis ball (or anything her sister Maddy has!) And she loves the nightly treats.

We are tickled to death that we adopted IISA. She definitely is the life of the party around here! All she wants to do is please us and play with her rattie sister Maddy. She can be a pistol, but such is the charm of a rat terrier! IISA is very trainable and eager for challenge. I think come warmer weather, we will be working on some of the more complicated tricks rat terriers are known to be good at. Thanks for making this a great experience. I am sure we will be showing up at the various events you sponsor with our very happy rattie rescue IISA!

Sincerely ~ Paula
