Visiting the shelter is the best way to find the right pet to match your family's lifestyle. Different animal breeds have different personalities and our Adoption Counselors can help you decide which animal is best for you. Spending time with an animal will give you a sense of the right match. Adoption Counselors are prepared to help you by discussing your lifestyle, family members, time for pets, etc.

Adoption is a lifetime commitment so before you adopt, consider the following questions:
- Can I afford the annual costs to keep a dog or a cat which can easily run up to $400 a year including food and medical care?
- Am I willing to devote time to training my new pet?
- Do I have time everyday to train, groom exercise and love a pet?
- What type of pet will best fit into my lifestyle?
- Will my landlord allow a pet?
- What type of pet is most appropriate for children?

Zoey
We adopted Zoey on June 9th, 2009 the day we signed the papers on our house. She has been
attached to us and us to her ever since. She was a part of the family the minute she walked in the house and she has since learned how to get almost anything she wants by using her cuteness to her advantage. She was already well trained and listened to commands we gave which was great being a first time dog owner. Our Zoey is a smart girl and has so much love to
give. She is also protective of me when we are home alone, this is the only time she barks. She loves playing fetch with dad and frisbee with mom as soon as we come home from work and loves going on car rides. I would love to get her a brother or sister but I can't imagine loving another dog as much as I love Zoey. I hope that the family that gave her up knows that she is well taken care of and very happy in her new home. I highly recommend the CAHS for anyone's next pet! Save a life and give an older animal a chance at happiness. We did and it was the best decision we ever made. Thank you! -Natalie Colson and Douglas Whitten
