Surrender

The Capital Area Humane Society receives more than 6,000 animals annually from the public. These animals must be owner-surrendered companion animals. Our staff is available to talk with you at any time regarding animal surrender. Questions? Contact us at 517- 626-6060.

We cannot accept animals that have bitten in the past ten days. When you decide to surrender an animal, our Counselors will discuss various options with you and often suggest alternatives.

Helping you keep your pet, by working with you on training issues, is our first step. Our Behavior staff is well versed on animal care issues. Often we can help correct animal behavior issues by working with you.

If you do decide to surrender, please plan to spend some time with our Counselors when you arrive with your animal. The more information you can provide us about your pet, the more successful we will be in placing your animal in an appropriate home.
