Pet Surrender
The Capital Area Humane Society receives nearly
7,000 animals annually from the public. These animals must be
owner-surrendered
companion animals. We cant accept animals that have bitten in the past ten days. When you surrender an animal our Counselors will discuss various options with you and suggest alternatives. Helping you keep your pet, by working with you on training issues, is our first step. Our Behavior staff is well versed on animal care issues. Often we can help correct animal behavior issues by working with you. Please plan to spend some time with our Counselors. The more information you can provide us about your pet, the more successful we will be in placing your animal in the appropriate home.

Surrendering Stray Animals
According to Michigan law, a stray animal must go
to the Countys Animal Control Agency where it was found.
This gives a lost pet the best chance of being reunited with its
owner.
